National Golf Links of America opened in 1911 and changed the course of golf design in this country. Charles Blair Macdonald spent years studying the great holes of Britain, then built his interpretations of them on a stretch of Southampton land above Peconic Bay. The Redan, the Alps, the Sahara and the Short all live here, and nearly every template hole built in America since traces back to this course.
