Pacific Dunes opened at Bandon in 2001 and made Tom Doak's name. Only six thousand six hundred yards from the tips, with four par threes on the back nine and holes that sit so lightly on the dunes it looks like nobody built anything at all. Plenty of people who have played every course at the resort still call this the best of them.
