One of Australia's great sandbelt-style courses, born from a missed train. In 1922 a rail strike put H.L. "Cargie" Rymill on a tram instead, he spotted a for-sale sign on a sandy paddock along the way, and bought it. He designed the whole course himself, and it opened in 1924. Host of multiple Australian Opens since.
